We will hear from Dean James Bundy, Dean of the David Geffen School of Drama and Artistic Director of the Yale Repertory Theatre.

Subject: Athletics of the Heart: Entertainment in an Age of Polarization and Pandemic

The great French artist and theorist, Antonin Artaud, famously observed that “the actor is an athlete of the heart.” We all know actors we love to watch, and the kinds of stories we love to see them in at the theater and onscreen. But what really makes us love these athletes and their sport? And how do their training and collaborations—with writers, directors, and designers—equip them to shape and, perhaps, heal our culture?
